Ingredients

Protein iced vanilla macchiato
  • 1 cup vanilla protein shake
  • 2 espresso, cooled
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp sugar-free vanilla syrup
  • 1 cup ice cubes
  • 1 tbsp milk or cream (optional)
  • 1 ice for serving

Method

Build the drink
  1. Fill a tall glass with ice, using enough so the glass is well chilled (about 1 cup).
  2. Pour the vanilla protein shake into the glass over the ice and stir once to evenly chill the base.
  3. Stir in vanilla extract and sugar-free vanilla syrup until fully combined.
  4. Slowly pour the cooled espresso over the back of a spoon so it sinks and forms distinct layers.
  5. Add a splash of milk or cream if desired, then stir just enough to blend to your preference.
  6. Serve immediately and stir before drinking so the layers and sweetness are evenly distributed.

Notes

For clean layering, use espresso that has cooled to room temperature (or slightly cooler) before pouring. Store any leftovers in the fridge up to 24 hours, but layering is best fresh; freezing isn’t recommended. For a lower-calorie option, choose an unsweetened vanilla protein shake and keep the sugar-free syrup.
