  • 1 cup animal crackers Scatter around for a fun, sweet topper.
  • 1 patriotic sprinkles Finish the board with red, white, and blue sparkle.

Equipment

  • 1 stand mixer

Method

Make the Buttercream
  1. Beat the unsalted butter until creamy and fluffy, scraping the sides as needed for an even texture.
  2. Add the powdered sugar gradually and mix until thick and smooth.
  3. Mix in the heavy cream, vanilla extract, and salt until the frosting is spreadable.
Assemble the American Flag Board
  1. Spread the buttercream evenly onto a large serving board to create a smooth base layer.
  2. Create the blue flag section by placing fresh blueberries in a packed, rectangular area.
  3. Arrange alternating rows of strawberries and mini marshmallows for the flag stripes, keeping the lines straight and even.
  4. Surround the board with vanilla sandwich cookies, sugar cookies, animal crackers, and white chocolate-covered pretzels for a border of crunchy dippers.
  5. Sprinkle patriotic sprinkles over the top for a finished patriotic look.
  6. Chill the board for 15 minutes before serving to help the toppings set.
  7. Serve as a dip-and-snack board with dippers and portion for guests to enjoy.

Notes

For the cleanest flag lines, spread the frosting in a thick, even layer and press berries and marshmallows gently so they hold their rows. Refrigerate covered for up to 24 hours; the sprinkles may slightly soften. Freezing is not recommended for this fresh fruit board. If you want a lighter option, replace part of the powdered sugar with a powdered sugar substitute made for baking to reduce overall sweetness while keeping the spreadable texture.
